Industrial safety & environmental sustainability

  • In 2017-19, the research group has stipulated various agreements in the context of the analysis and optimization of treatment lines of gaseous effluents from combustion plants in general and waste-to-energy plants in particular. The agreements have been stipulated with HERAmbiente, Termomeccanica Energia, ARPAE Emilia-Romagna and Brianza Energia e Ambiente and, following subsequent renewals, are still in progress.
  • In the field of the potential environmental consequences of accidental releases from Oil & Gas plants, an agreement with Eni articulated on several points has been stipulated in 2018.
  • Consistently with another research field of the group, agreements have also been stipulated for the study of the risk induced by natural events on industrial plants (NaTech). For this issue, the clients were Eni and RINA Consulting.
  • "Runaways in catalytic and thermal gas-phase reaction systems" project, co-financed by the VDI (Association of German Engineers), is aimed at developing methodologies to define the adequate process conditions to guarantee high rates of catalytic reactions, high yields and selectivity, and - at the same time - high safety standards of the analysed chemical processes (e.g. hydrocracking or production of alkoxides).
