Top Class Research@DICAM

The “Best Paper Awards 2025” ceremony was held as part of Top Class Research@DICAM, the annual initiative of the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering aimed at promoting excellence in the scientific output of its Professors, Researchers and Ph.D. students, has taken place. The selection of the most significant publications is based on bibliometric indices, with the aim of highlighting the works that have contributed most to scientific advancement in their respective fields.

The jury, composed of experts from the Department, identified three leading studies among the numerous candidate publications:

1. Evaluation of Landsat-9 interoperability with Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 over Europe and local comparison with field surveys - Trevisiol F., Mandanici E., Pagliarani A., Bitelli G.
2. Blended structural optimization of steel joints for Wire-and-Arc Additive Manufacturing - Laghi V., Babovic N., Benvenuti E., Kloft H.
3. Onboard carbon capture and storage (OCCS) for fossil fuel-based shipping: A sustainability assessment​ - Zanobetti F., Pio G., Bucelli M., Miani L., Jafarzadeh S., Cozzani V.

The award-winning results reflect the diversity and scientific quality of the research conducted within DICAM.

The Top Class Research@DICAM award highlights the University of Bologna's commitment to promoting cutting-edge research and consolidating the department's role in the international science and engineering landscape.
