Structural Engineering

Models, methods and materials for structural conceptual design, design of new structures, and assessment and retrofit of existing structures

Description

The research activities of the group cover different areas of structural engineering such as

  • definition of actions on structures and of response models, with particular reference the seismic action
  • behavior of structures as a function of structural typology and morphology, materials, construction technologies, interaction with the environment, usage, management strategies and control
  • models and criteria for designing, constructing and managing structures
  • vulnerability and risk assessment, structural reliability, safety and robustness, durability
  • testing and structural health monitoring
  • assessment of and strengthening of existing and historical buildings
  • innovative materials for structural engineering.
