IP address assignment

Preliminary information

- The IP address is set on the network card of a device and allows the device to connect to the University fixed network.

- It can ONLY be requested by dependent personnel (= IP manager) for

  1. a) a device that he will use himself (= IP holder who coincides with the manager)
  2. b) for a device that will use an unstructured person (= IP holder).

- It is assigned to a person for a specific device.

- It CANNOT be configured on a device other than the one to which it was assigned

- If the IP manager or holder changes, it is necessary to promptly notify the IT contacts of DICAM

 

How to request

To request the IP address, please, send an email to cesia.referentiDICAM@unibo.it (IT staff of the Department) with the following information:

- Type of the device (e.g. PC, notebook, server, printer, NAS, ...)

- Model of the device (e.g. Toshiba Portege X10)

- Operating system installed (e.g. Windows 10 prof, Mac OS X 11.0.1, ...)

- Office where the device is located (e.g. code next to the QR-code on the label attached to the door of the room or office 2-014 scale B or description of where the office is located if no label is present)

- UNIBO email address of any not-dependent user for which the IP address is requested.

- in case the address has to be used by not-dependent staff (fellows, doctoral students, ...), it is required to indicate the name of the dependent tutor or scientific responsible and the date on which the collaboration with the Department will end.

- inventory (for example DICAM xxx, CIRI xxx, ... or, in the absence of a label, indicate the funding used for the device purchase, e.g. personal or DICAM funds)
