Enhanced Locally resonant Metamaterials for Train-induced vibration mitigation

ELEMENT

Abstract

The research project aimed at the numerical and experimental study of locally resonant metamaterials to control surface waves' propagation and propose innovative solutions for the seismic retrofit and isolation of critical structures and infrastructures. The locally resonant metamaterials are composite structures manufactured by the periodic distribution of the resonant structures (i.e., pillars or mass-dashpot-spring systems) placed inside a host medium (i.e., soil, for the case of seismic metamaterials)
