Abstract:
"A comprehensive understanding of seasonality in extreme rainfall is essential for various practical engineering applications, e.g. seasonal flood protection and stormwater management. This research focuses on the issue of identifying seasonality in extreme daily rainfall and quantifying its impact in a theoretically consistent yet practically appealing manner."

Theano (Any) Iliopoulou is a PhD student at the National Technical University of Athens in the Department of Water Resources and Environment. Her PhD research belongs to the field of Stochastic Hydrology and revolves around long-range dependence, extreme value analysis and seasonality in hydrological variables with a central focus to rainfall data. Currently, she is working on seasonality investigation in extreme daily rainfall and floods.
