The HAP4MARBLE project, funded by the European Commission within the call H2020-MSCA-IF-2014 (Global Fellowship, Fellow Dr. Enrico Sassoni, Supervisor Dr. Elisa Franzoni), is aimed at multi-functionalizing an innovative treatment for conservation of marble artworks, based on formation of hydroxyapatite, the mineral constituent of human teeth and bones. For the project implementation, involving different complementary disciplines, Dr. Sassoni has spent 18 months at Princeton University (USA) and 6 months at the University of Göttingen (Germany), and he is now back to Bologna for the final year of the fellowship.

In the light of the positive results obtained within the project, which led to the first field applications of the hydroxyapatite-based treatment to real study cases, the HAP4MARBLE project has been included among the “success stories” funded by the European Commission, as described in detail at the following link.
