Design and Control of Chemical Processes, Metallurgy and Analysis,

Contaminated site bio-treatment, Chemical process control and optimization, Process-structure-properties of metals, Ferrous alloys (steels and cast irons), Light alloys (aluminium, titanium, magnesium), Metallurgical aspects of metals additive manufacturing

Description

Relationships between microstructure, process and mechanical properties of ferrous (steels and cast irons) and non-ferrous metals (aluminum, titanium and magnesium alloys, metal matrix composites). The effect of production process, chemical composition and heat treatment on the static, fatigue and tribological properties of the main structural metallic materials is investigated.

Analysis, Design and Control of Chemical Processes:

  • biological treatment of contaminated matrices, with specific reference to aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation processes of chlorinated hydrocarbons
  • development of innovative methodologies for risk assessment in process plants with specific reference to the domino effect, the effects of natural events on industrial installations and the consequences of incidental scenarios to which they can give rise
  • development of advanced tools for the optimization and control of industrial plants.
