Next Generation Strategies and Solutions for an Integrated Seismic-Energetic Performance-Based Rehabilitation of Schools and Residential Reinforced Concrete Buildings with Tailored Timber Exoskeleton Technologies

QuakeSAFE-GreenSHIELD

Abstract

Aligning with the European strategic goals, the Project “QuakeSAFE-GreenSHIELD” intends provide a fundamental scientific support to the practical implementation of an integrated seismic and multi-performance rehabilitation of the building stock, by developing: a) ad-hoc performance based assessment/design/retrofit methodologies according to a multiple criteria and objectives approach and b) practical, cost-efficient and low-invasive technological solutions for integrated seismic and multi-performance rehabilitation interventions on existing buildings. Focus will be given, yet not being limited, to the development of tailored seismic and multi-performance cost-efficient and low-invasive (exoskeleton-type) solutions for existing Reinforced Concrete School Buildings and Condominiums. To achieve these goals, the project brings together a unique interdisciplinary team with strong expertise and practical experience in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Facade Engineering, and Architecture. Analytical/theoretical, numerical, and experimental investigations will be carried out at both local (non-structural or structural elements, connection details, with a special focus on additional damping, strength and stiffness) and global level (frame system). The final outputs and key deliverables will take the form of practical and end-user oriented Guidelines, including design examples, structural/construction details to assist the various decision-makers and stakeholders/shareholders.
